Every religion/faith has something that separates it from the rest. When referring to the Hare Krishna followers, their muted orange and salmon colored garments come immediately to mind, as well as their unique hair styles and very vocal chanting.

This is a memory from my childhood that I don’t see much anymore. When I was living at the home I grew up in, I remember Hare Krishna followers would come knocking on our door and they would be chanting and clanging their chimes, while we looked on. I didn’t know at the time what they were chanting, but I found this chant online, so I assume this is what they were saying: “Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare…”. When they were done, they would hand us a flyer about their faith (I believe they asked for donations too, but I can’t say for sure) and then leave to go to the next house.
I also remember seeing the Hare Krishna followers on the streets around town too, chanting to their hearts content, spreading the word of their faith.
Within the past few years, my wife and I took a trip up to Northern California (I believe it was the city of Berkeley). We were walking around the city and I spotted a group of Hare Krishna followers walking down the street while chanting and ringing their chimes. Boy, did this bring back a flood of memories from my past.

So will you believe this – in my 20′s i went all by myself to a Hare Krishna ceremony at their church in Culver City.
I must say it was one of the most interesting places I had ever been to witness their ceremony. It was a time when i was curious about religions and would visit various houses of workship……
Their ceremony was the most interesting by far. very nice people but it was something beyond my reason
